MULTILEVEL - GRADES 2 AND 3

Animals In Art –
Presentation and narrative regarding how artists have used animal images in different forms of art. Students will be encouraged to think about Arizona and Prescott animals that they might see here.               
Docent: Donna Endresen
Demonstrates a theme in artwork, illustrating a common human experience that transcends culture, time and place. (Strand #2, Concept #4)

MULTILEVEL - GRADES 3, 4 AND 5 (& 6 in HUSD)

Dogs in Art – Art that includes images of dogs is used to build art appreciation, as well as a sense of history and understanding of art elements.

Describes the role that art plays in culture and how it reflects, records, and interacts with history in various times, places and traditions. (Strand #2, Concept #1)

Discuss themes in artworks that illustrate common human experiences that transcend culture, time and place.(Strand #2, Concept #4)

Honoring Hard Work - Some workers take pleasure and pride in their work, while others labor without joy or choice. Many of our ancestors crossed oceans or borders to find employment; some came as slaves. Paintings and sculpture from the time of the Egyptians to the present show children and adults working at trades and professions. Some illustrate teamwork, while others emphasize individual achievement. All will reveal the artist’s feeling about the worker(s).

Viewing Nature Thru Magic Eyes: The Camouflage Art of Bev Doolittle – The art of Bev Dolittle reveals very few things are what they seem.
Docent: Denise Preble
The student will judge the effectiveness of the artist’s use of elements of art and principles of design in communicating meaning and/or purpose in artwork. (Strand #3, Concept #3)
