GRADE 1
A Day at the Circus - Circus with famous artists such as Chagall, Klee, Degas, and Rockwell. See all the activity, color, and excitement while also learning about art elements and artists.
Docent: Doris Piatak
Develops imagination; contributes to a discussion about who artists are, what they do and why they create art. (Strand #2, Concept #1)  

Artistic Cats – Cats lounge, prowl, and pounce in many famous artists’ creations throughout history.   Join in the fun while learning about the basic elements in art.

Beatrix Potter and Friends
– Animal images from Beatrix Potter books will be used to help students discriminate between different kinds of lines and replicate in drawing what they see around them.

GRADE 2

Art in the Sky - Soar with the birds and learn about some of the earliest and most fantastic kites from all over the world.
Docents: Becky Rusling (Prescott and Chino Valley only), Denise Preble (Prescott Valley only)
Describes the visual effects created by an artist’s use of tools, materials and techniques in an artwork. (Strand #3, Concept #2)

Birds in Native American Art and CraftSince early times Native Americanshave used the bird form as symbol, decoration and/or realistic representation, creating beautiful works of art.  This talk takes a look at our Native Americans’ use of birds in art.
Docent: Bonnie Devereaux (November – April)
 Demonstrates a theme in artwork, illustrating a common human experience that transcends culture, time and place.  (Strand# 2, Concept #4)

Stormy WeatherPut on your raincoat and hoist your umbrella for nasty weather as seen by such diverse artists as Albert Bierstadt, Winslow Homer and Grandma Moses.
Docent: Ruth Anne Norris
Demonstrates a theme in artwork, illustrating a common human experience that transcends culture, time and place. (Strand #2, Concept #4)

GRADE 3

The Life and Art of Alexander Calder - Have fun with this artist’s playful, exciting mobile sculptures that sing and dance with color and movement.
Docent: Allan Isham
The student will judge an artist’s success in communicating meaning or purpose in their artwork.

Ancient Greece and Rome and How They Influence Us Today - Pictures showing life in Ancient times will be compared with life, as we know it today. See how the Ancient Greeks and Romans influenced our way of life.
Docent: Joyce Haas (Prescott and Prescott Valley only, Sept thru Apr.)
Describes the role that art plays in culture and how it reflects, records, and interacts with history in various times, places and traditions. (Strand #2, Concept #1)
