Masterpiece Program
Prescott Art Docents involve children in a discussion of selected reproductions of masterpieces each month. These talks may include techniques the artist used to communicate with the viewer, social and historical background information, and interesting facts about the artist.
A masterpiece reproduction is left in the classroom to be enjoyed and then exchanged the next month for another masterpiece.
Approximately 50 classrooms are visited about seven times each by Masterpiece Docents. |
Youth Speakers Bureau
Youth Speakers Bureau Docents prepare slide or digital presentations on themes related to school curriculum and grade level interest. These well-researched talks, based on the Arizona Visual Arts Standards, give children many ways to view and talk about art.
Appropriate objects are often brought to illustrate the art on the screen. Click here for a list of current talks available.
Visits to classrooms are initiated by teachers' requests, and the same presentations may be given at many different schools in our community. Approximately 200 classroom visits averaging 28 children per visit take place each year. At present, 25 different talks and special multimedia presentations are available to classroom teachers. |
Docents in the Art Room
Docents assist art teachers at individual schools, help prepare materials, work with students and mount artwork for art shows.
