From the first month, docent trainees are prepared and coached on how to
research and give a talk. They are given an advisor to help them
through the process and to offer guidance as needed. Other docents are
delighted to encourage and assist in any way they can if asked.
Graduation talks are given usually in March or December. Trainees may
choose to graduate in 7 months time or may take up to 2 years if needed.A docent trainee develops a real understanding of how to look at all kinds of art, and how to appreciate, evaluate, and analyze the elements that went into the making of the art.
Docent trainees prepare through special workshops and practice how to teach the elements of art and the principles of design to students in the classroom so that they too may look at art in new ways.
No former knowledge of art is needed.
